I can see that side of things, but on the other hand, what happens if your mount has uncanny dodge? Would it keep the rider from being flanked? I guess I could see not ...

What if there was a feat tree that would let you benefit from your mounts abilities?

I have run this question through a couple of forums and the answers have come up pretty consistent: evasion on one creature does not confer it to the other.

Here's how it was put:
"Your mount has evasion and manages to find a place that's safer from the effect for itself, that leaves you sitting on it's back completely exposed to the effect since it's not worrying about you at the moment.

You have evasion and manage to find a place that's safer from the effect for yourself. The thing is it's more then likely that place is the opposite side of your mount from the effect. By ducking down to one side and using the mount itself as cover you keep yourself safer at the cost of your riding companion."

Reflex saves are an instinctual reaction. The vast majority of creatures save themselves first and then (maybe an instant later) think about saving someone else. That fireball only lasts an instant...

This is pretty much a justification of the Rules as Written and not necessarily an accurate depiction of what /should/ be. If someone has valid reasons for it to be otherwise, please voice them. I want to be wrong.
