R.I.P. Michael Crichton

   Posted by: KnightFall   in Sci-Fi

I just read that Michael Crichton died.  There will be a lot of stories about him over the next several days, seek stuff but I just wanted to make a quick comment.  I think Crichton did a lot to help legitamize Sci-Fi as a genre.  He may not  have written “hard” Sci-Fi like Asimov or others, buy cialis but he always had that edge there.  Personally, I always liked Timeline (the book, not the movie), but I encourage everyone to read at least one Crichton novel in their life.  You may get hooked and read them all.

Agreed, he always had a way of bringing science to the masses. I’ve read both “Jurassic Park” and “Next”, and thought they were both great reads. Neither of them were really far-out dreams about what may be possible in the far-flung future, but rather ideas that were just right around the corner.
